About Us
The Knowledge Centre for Security Intelligence (KSI) is a network of academics and practitioners with experience in academia, law enforcement, intelligence, and security services. We translate this combined expertise into practical and applicable services in the form of consultancy, training, and knowledge development.
Applicability is at the heart of what we do: we provide actionable perspectives at the individual level through training, and at the organisational level through strategic consultancy. Our services are structured into four specialised knowledge units: Research, Intelligence, Geopolitics, and Training (see image). This structure enables us to guarantee the right expertise to support your organisation in addressing security challenges or meeting knowledge requirements.
Mission
The Knowledge Centre for Security Intelligence strengthens the resilience of organisations against current and future threats by providing practical knowledge, consultancy, and training at the intersection of security, geopolitics, and intelligence.
Strategy
We combine academic and practical expertise within four knowledge units: Research, Intelligence, Geopolitics, and Training. From this structure, we deliver tailored solutions in the form of consultancy projects, learning pathways, and knowledge development. Applicability and impact for your organisation are always at the forefront.
Vision
We aim to enable both public and private organisations to respond effectively to complex security challenges by providing access to high-quality knowledge, actionable perspectives, and a strong network of experts.
Applied Intelligence
Applied Intelligence is playing an increasingly important role for organisations operating in a complex and uncertain world. The discipline offers methods to transform information into actionable insights and forms the foundation for well-informed decision-making and proactive action. Within The Knowledge Centre for Security Intelligence (KSI), Applied Intelligence is the cornerstone of our training programmes and expertise.
What is Applied Intelligence
Applied Intelligence translates theoretical insights from intelligence studies into practical applications within organisations. It is about collecting, analysing, and enhancing information to produce actionable intelligence, enabling the recognition of patterns, understanding of motives, and anticipation of possible actions. At KSI, we combine theory and practice, with participants actively working on realistic case studies and analytical techniques. This way, we train professionals to translate information into insight and action, even under pressure and in uncertain circumstances.
Why Applied Intelligence
Organisations face rapidly evolving threats, abundant yet fragmented information, and unexpected events. Applied Intelligence helps maintain oversight in this dynamic environment and supports well-founded decision-making. While intelligence services have worked in this way for many years, the approach is becoming increasingly important for both public and private organisations. Many organisations wish to act proactively but lack the time or methodology to conduct in-depth threat analysis. Applied Intelligence provides the solution, enabling timely identification of both risks and opportunities.

What do we do?
The Knowledge Centre for Security Intelligence (KSI) develops, applies, and shares knowledge on security, intelligence, and geopolitics. We bridge the gap between academia and practice by combining applied research, strategic consultancy, and training — with the aim of strengthening organisations in both their information position and resilience.
Our approach is shown visually alongside: KSI operates at the intersection of three domains — geopolitics, security, and intelligence. Surrounding these are our three core services: knowledge development, consultancy, and training. This structure forms the foundation of our integrated approach and enables us to address security challenges effectively from multiple perspectives.
The focus of our activities lies in three practice-oriented areas:
People
How do cognitive processes influence the collection, processing, and dissemination of information, and how can organisations improve these?
Organisation
What structures or working methods contribute to better intelligence processes, and how can organisations implement them?
Methodology
Which analytical methods and techniques improve the quality and applicability of intelligence?
Who makes up the Knowledge Centre?
The Knowledge Centre for Security Intelligence (KSI) consists of an international network of experts with strong academic backgrounds and extensive practical experience in intelligence and security. Our specialists are affiliated with universities, research institutes, agencies, companies, and consultancy firms, and — depending on the knowledge requirement — can be engaged to develop specific analyses.
KSI serves as both a knowledge platform and a connector: we bring experts together, link expertise to current issues, and support organisations in finding applicable insights. The knowledge produced within the network — through projects, research, and practical experience — is actively shared via publications, workshops, thematic events, and a growing online platform.
Our core team of experts guarantees the quality of our services. Where necessary, we draw on additional specialists from the network, depending on the specific subject matter or assignment.
KSI was founded in 2018 by SoSecure International and is funded through contract research and self-initiated projects. Partners within the network share the conviction that collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential to strengthening resilience and security.
