Laurent Lejeune
About Laurent
Laurent Lejeune served for forty years in the Belgian Armed Forces, building an impressive career that took him from non-commissioned officer to officer, with appointments at tactical, operational, and national levels. His expertise lies in military operations and intelligence, acquired during numerous missions in Africa, the Balkans, and Central Asia.
Beginning his career in the armoured troops, he specialised in areas such as tactical command, military identification, CBRN, explosives, and combat engineering. He held various command positions, including platoon and company commander, and served as an S2 intelligence officer at both battalion and brigade level. He completed advanced training in intelligence analysis, HUMINT, CIED, and targeting, both in Belgium and with NATO and ISAF.
His operational background includes missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and extended deployments in African countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, and Burkina Faso. He spent many years teaching tactical intelligence and instructional techniques, and later became a senior analyst at the General Intelligence and Security Service (SGRS/ADIV), where he was responsible for the Sahel portfolio and for coordinating analyses and briefings for both military and diplomatic decision-makers.
With his blend of field experience, analytical precision, and teaching skills, Laurent is a respected trainer and adviser. He is recognised for his ability to translate complex security and threat issues into clear insights and actionable recommendations — expertise he has continued to apply in training and consultancy on security intelligence since his retirement in January 2023.
